Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Review and Retrospective

Today marks Final Fantasy XII’s 11th Anniversary. The game originally launched for the PS2 in NA on October 31, 2006. I know it’s a weird date to release on since it has nothing to do with Halloween. I also realize that eleven is a strange anniversary to celebrate, but hear me out. Instead of just doing a review for the somewhat recent HD port, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, I decided to do a mashup of a review and a retrospective. It’ll make more sense once you watch the video. Enjoy!

The Evil Within 2 Spoilercast

Lauren and I are back to talk about The Evil Within 2. I honestly didn’t think the both of us would finish it so fast simultaneously, but things just worked out for us. That said we gathered our thoughts and reviewed the game’s story, mechanics, and overall design. Be forewarned though it is a Spoilercast so nothing is off limits. You’ve been warned. Foreboding aside, enjoy!

The Mummy Demastered Review

The Mummy Demastered is based on the recent Mummy reboot. The film was critically panned and it didn’t do too well in our box office either. Not a good start for Universal’s Dark Universe I’d say. Despite these setbacks WayForward crafted a video game tie-in that’s a Metroidvania. Can the modern pixel masters save this franchsie from complete obscurity, or is it just another useless accompaniment to a movie that’s best left forgotten. Find out in my review. Enjoy!

Special Notes: I received a PS4 review code for The Mummy Demastered.

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth Review

In my mind Etrian Odyssey IV just came out, but it actually launched in 2013 for North America. Between IV and V there’s been a litany of remakes and spinoffs, which is why the name has never left my thoughts. Those games may be great, but there’s nothing like a true sequel to get fans excited. How does Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth stack up next to its predecessors? Watch my video review to find out more. Enjoy!

Special Notes: I received a 3DS review code for Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth.

Hob Review

Hob is a puzzle platformer, action RPG that feels reminiscent of both Zelda and Journey. Runic Games, who previously worked on both Torchlight games, developed it. Does Hob manage to have its own voice, or is it another poor copycat? Find out in my video review. Enjoy!

Special Notes: I received a PS4 review code for Hob.

Mystik Belle Review

Mystik Belle is a Metroidvania adventure game starring a plucky young witch named Belle. It originally launched for PCs back in 2015. Now WayForward has struck a deal with the developer, Last Dimension, to publish the game on consoles. Is this two year old game still worth your time? Find out in my video review. Enjoy!

Special Notes: I received a PS4 review code for Mystik Belle.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar Review

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is based on a short-lived, but highly respected comic series. Battle Chasers began in 1998, spanned ten issues including a prelude, and ended prematurely in 2001 on a cliffhanger. Does this game provide answers, or at the very least, will it satiate hungry fans? Find out in my video review. Enjoy!

Special Notes: I received a PS4 review code for Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
